A Winter Walk on the Wild Side

When you think of winter in California, what comes to mind?

Sunshine? A ski trip? Surfing tempestuous waves? Or perhaps, curling up by the fire and enjoying a steaming cup of cocoa while you take in the blustery weather from the warmth of your home?

February is that in-between month here on our stunning Central Coast. The holidays are behind us, and spring isn’t quite around the corner. The weather tends to be a bit unpredictable. So, what are we to do?

With the holiday decorations safely tucked away in storage and school back in session, get ready to ditch those winter blahs. We’re going on a little adventure!

So, mosey off your comfy couch and grab the family or friends. We’re heading into the brisk fresh air for some outdoor fun. Don’t worry, we’ll have you back in time to huddle under your softest blanket while you binge watch your latest Netflix indulgence.

Our gorgeous stretch of coastline along Highway 1 is dotted with small, seaside towns…absolute treasures worthy of exploration…nooks and crannies that play host to amazing wildlife.

From San Simeon’s famous elephant seals to the vibrant Monarch butterflies swirling about the eucalyptus trees near Oceano and Pismo, from to the majestic whales gracing Avila Beach’s San Luis Bay to the much tinier creatures inhabiting the tidepools in Cambria and Cayucos, there’s no shortage of wildlife to spot seaside. The coast is your oyster.

After a day filled with new discoveries, you’ve earned that beloved spot on the couch. May your dreams be filled with wonderful memories of your day’s adventures.
